Accessing CAE Resources from Outside the College of Engineering
Here's how to remotely access the engineering computer labs using a computer with Unix:
  1. Run rdesktop and connect to remotedesktop.cae.wisc.edu.

  3. Enter your CAE login information, just as you would at any CAE workstation.

  1. Policy: CAE does not allow users to run jobs in the background. Running a job in the background slows the computer for other users. Extended remote logins to CAE workstations for the purpose of running programs is considered background jobs. Running jobs from the console of a workstation for many hours may also be considered a background job.
