Creating a Good Password
Choosing a good and secure password is the most complicated part of activating a CAE account for most people. The following conditions must be met for your password to meet our security rules.
- Use at least 6 characters. A few more is better.
- Must contain 3 of these 3 character types: upper case letter, lower case letter, digit, special character (punctuation, etc.)
- Avoid the use of these characters: \ [ ] ,
- Avoid using real words, names, places, and other things that will be identified when your proposed password is checked against a number of dictionaries. Not all of the dictionaries we use are English-language, so using a word in a foreign language will not pass the checks. For practical purposes, most of the time when there are 3 or more consecutive letters that will be too close to a real word, so try to mix in those other character types.
Keeping Your Password Secure
- Don't write it down.
- Don't share it with your friends, classmates, family members, or anyone.
- Don't respond to any email that asks for your password.
- If you want to report a problem accessing your CAE account to the helpdesk, don't include your password.
