Lab Info

Overview: CAE offers users lab access all over the engineering campus. Labs provide users access to Windows and Linux machines as well as laser printers, CD-burners, and scanners. Some of the lab locations are open 24 hours a day to provide users unrestricted access to computing resources.

Lab Locations: Besides the main CAE facility at 1410 Engineering Drive, CAE has labs in Engineering Hall, Engineering Centers Building, Mechanical Engineering, Wendt Commons and the Materials Science & Engineering building. In total, CAE has 23 lab locations to make computing easy and accessible for everyone in the college. For a visual representation of the lab locations see the interactive lab location map.

Need to find a computer? With CAE’s Available Lab Computers page it is easy to find an open computer without having to go to the lab. The page automatically updates the availability of the computers every five minutes to inform users of machines in use, classes in session in the labs as well as lab closing times.

Lab Resources Outside of the Lab: Through the use of Tethered software, users can access many of CAE’s lab resources without actually being seated at a lab machine. Tethered Software allows users to locally install and run some CAE owned and controlled software while connected to the network or Internet. This gives users the ability to use CAE software from their own computer located anywhere with an internet connection.
