Configuring IMAP with Eudora in OS X
Configuring IMAP
- Start Eudora.
- From the Eudora menu, choose Preferences.
- A dialog box labeled Settings will appear.
In the category listing on the left-hand side, select Getting Started.
The window should look the same as the one shown below.
- Enter the following information into the appropriate fields
- Username: CAE login (for example, we have used jbgood)
- Mail Server: cae.wisc.edu
- Real Name: Johnny B. Good
- SMTP server: smtpauth.cae.wisc.edu
- Return Address: Your e-mail address
Checking Mail
Sending Mail
- In the category listing on the left-hand side, select Checking Mail.
The window should look the same as the one shown below.
- Enter the following information into the appropriate fields.
- Username: CAE login
- Mail Server: cae.wisc.edu
- Mail Protocol: IMAP
- Location Prefix: <blank>
- Can choose to save the password.
- Choose to check mail every 20 minutes.
- CAE recommends downloading minimal headers only.

- In the category listing on the left-hand side, select Sending Mail.
The window should look the same as the one shown below.
- Enter the following information into the appropriate fields.
- Return Address: CAE email address
- Default Domain: cae.wisc.edu or engr.wisc.edu
- SMTP server: smtpauth.cae.wisc.edu
- Check allow authorization
- Check immediate send
- Check send on check
- Check use separate thread for sending
- Check fix curly quotes
- Check keep copies

The window should look the same as the one shown below.
- Enter the following information into the appropriate fields.
- Personality: dominant
- SSL for IMAP: Required (Alternate Port)
- Select maximum capability
- Select maximum capability
