IP Address Requests
Your computer must be in the College of Engineering IP Address database before it is permitted to connect to the network.
Setting Up TCP/IP
The following instructions apply to Mac OS X 10.3 or later.
- Go to System Preferences (/Applications/System Preferences).
- Select Network from the Internet & Network menu.
- In the location tab select Automatic.
- Under Show select Built-in Ethernet from the drop down list.
- Under the TCP/IP tab select Using DHCP. This will automatically set your IP address, Subnet Mask and Router.
- In the space labeled DNS Servers use the default that your ISP provides
- Click Apply to set the new settings.
Locating Your Ethernet/MAC Address
- Select Network under System Preferences (/Applications/System Preferences).
- Under Show select Built-in Ethernet from the drop down list.
- Click the Ethernet tab, which will show the computer's mac address (Ethernet ID), which will allow CAE to assign a static ip.
