If you are backing up your
CAE account from a CAE managed workstation the process is simplified (see instructions below from a CAE managed workstation).
Backing up your CAE accounts to a CD for Windows
First, you will need to
map a network drive. This will be the drive from which your CAE account will be copied.
Once you have mapped the network drive:
- Insert a blank, writable CD into the CD tray.
- Open My Computer.
- Click the files or folders you want to copy to the CD from your mapped drive (probably the I: drive). To select more than one file, hold down the CTRL key while you click the files you want. Then, under File and Folder Tasks , click Copy this file , Copy this folder , or Copy the selected items .
- In the Copy Items dialog box, click the CD recording drive, and then click Copy .
- In My Computer, double-click the CD recording drive. Windows displays a temporary area where the files are held before they are copied to the CD . Verify that the files and folders that you intend to copy to the CD appear under Files Ready to be Written to the CD .
- Under CD Writing Tasks , click Write these files to CD . Windows displays the CD Writing Wizard. Follow the instructions in the wizard.
Backing up your CAE accounts to a CD for Windows (from a CAE managed workstation)
The CAE supports the following CD burning methods at CAE managed workstations:
Using CDR Tools to backup Unix and Windows
If you are planning on copying either your Unix, Windows, or both your Unix and Windows home directories simultaneously you will want to use the CAE developed Unix utility CDR Tools : Start > CD Writing Software > CDR Tools
Simply insert a blank CD into the CD tray, decide which one of the burning options best fits your needs, and follow the instructions given at the prompt.
