Connecting to the network and internet with a wireless card is very easy on the Engineering campus. We have more detailed instructions on our
Wireless Networking page, but following these should work in most cases.
Step 1. Purchase and Configure a Wireless card for your machine.
You need a wireless card to connect to the wireless network. Many new laptops come with internal wireless cards, but if yours doesn't you can purchase an external one through
DoIT's Tech Store or at any computer retailer with the help of our
Network Card Requirements page. Once you have the card, configure it by following the instructions that came with either your computer or your card. If needed during the configuration process, the name of the wireless network, or SSID, is engr.
Step 2. Come to a covered area
Once your wireless network card is configured, take your laptop to any location within a wireless network coverage area on the
engineering campus.
Step 3. Load a webpage
Load any webpage in your browser of choice.
Step 4. Log in
Enter your
CAE login name and password, and you're in!
If these steps don't seem to work for you, contact a CAE consultant (in the CAE building) during regular daytime hours.
