We will complete our transition to eCOW2 this summer. The first step will be turning off all editing of old eCOW sites on May 26.
Be prepared - help is available...
All edit features in the old eCOW will turned off on Tuesday, May 26 2009. The old eCOW web site will be taken down over the summer months. Only the Moodle based new eCOW courses will be available for the Fall 09 semester. All content in the old eCOW site will remain available for your new eCOW courses. These zipped archives will remain available for many years.
Engineering Learning Center (ELC) and CAE has been funded by the Provost’s office to help faculty enhance courses through the use of technology. We hope this will help faculty make effective use of the additional technologies now available in the new eCOW. If you are interested in be part of this effort please contact Sandy Courter in the ELC or Rob Kohlhepp at CAE.
As part of this years TEL grant from the Provost’s office, we have been developing additional materials to help faculty integrate the new instructional capabilities now available in the new eCOW. Earlier, we created the getting started videos. We are now in the processes of creating a “Resource Guide and Pedagogical Design” materials. These materials are geared to help answer the “How” and the “Why” questions associated with these new instructional tools. These online materials will be available in early summer.
A few of the new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) features recently added to eCOW2 are the new math editor, the quiz response, and the import from an archive tool. The new math editor will be available in early summer. It will allow you to use a simple math editor to enter mathematical information into any on-line materials. These include quiz questions as well as student answers. The quiz response tool has been recently developed by the Biology department and makes it easy to personalize your responses to large enrollment classes. The new import tool allow you to import course materials from your old eCOW archive as well as an existing new eCOW course.
