There are several hundred computers available in CAE labs for anyone with a CAE login name. In order to maximize the utility of the labs and maintain the computers to the best of our ability, there are a few lab use guidelines that everyone is expected to follow in addition to general CAE account policies.
CAE Lab Use Guidelines
- If you must leave your computer for a short time, be sure to lock it. You are responsible for anything that occurs under your login.
- You are automatically logged off after 45 minutes of inactivity. This includes time when the computer is locked. The automatic log-out does not always save your work, so locking the computer will only work for short periods.
- Please limit your use to one lab computer at a time. There are many people who want to use the computers.
- Remember not to share your account information with anyone.
- Be respectful of others. Limit your cell phone conversations, and use the group work areas such as room 187 CAE for longer conversations and collaborating on projects.
- There is no food allowed in any CAE lab. This is to protect the computers from crumbs, sauce, grease, and other food-related detritus.
- Beverages are now allowed in CAE labs but they must be in spill-proof containers. This means no open cups, no cans, no cups with pop-on plastic lids. Travel mugs, athletic-style water bottles, and bottles with screw-tops are ideal.
